The site is located on schist soils and is mainly composed of typical Famenne oak forests. It also includes the Feschaux ponds, which are notable for their population of great crested newts and their species-rich hay meadows. The bocage landscapes host significant populations of red-backed shrikes, while the forests of Baronville are home to the middle spotted woodpecker. Lastly, the site is very rich in orchids.
